The coventry Charity
football cup

The Coventry Charity Football Cup is the largest sporting charity in the West Midlands and Warwickshire in terms of money donated to local charities. The donations are raised from the football competition, an Annual Sportsman’s Evening, an Autumn Ball, various donations from ‘friends’ of the charity (both individuals and companies), and sponsorship by Premier Group.

Under the original name of the Coventry Nursing Cup, the Competition was founded in 1907 with a donation of a magnificent trophy given by the Coventry Nursing Trust, to combine the dual function of providing competitive football with the raising of money in aid of local charities.

The cup is believed to be the largest cup in the Coventry area, when mounted on the plinth it stands some 41 inches high and has the capacity of four and a half gallons of liquid refreshment to quench the winning team’s thirst.
